Allan Martin runs for Washington State Treasurer

November 12, 2007

Assistant State Treasurer Allan Martin today announced his candidacy for Washington State Treasurer. “I have the experience, reliability and leadership that is needed in the State Treasurer’s Office,” said Martin, 54, a Republican. “My nearly twenty years of experience in public finance, at both local and state levels, and on both sides of the Cascades, will benefit the citizens of Washington.” Martin joined the office of the State Treasurer in 1998 after serving as Chelan County Treasurer from 1993 until 1998.

His experience and integrity in treasury operations is recognized with bipartisan support. He is endorsed by public officials and citizens across the state from both Republican and Democratic parties including many county treasurers, State Treasurer Mike Murphy, Attorney General Rob McKenna, Secretary of State Sam Reed, and former Governor Dan Evans.

I believe it is vitally important that taxpayers are treated fairly and openly. A public treasurer is in a position of public trust and is directly accountable to the people for the management of their tax dollars. Having served as Chelan County Treasurer and Assistant State Treasurer, I know it is a proven track record and experience, not politics, that are essential in a public treasurer’s office.
